In the new "Barbie" movie, Ryan Gosling's suitability as Ken is up for debate.
The film's casting directors, Allison Jones and Lucy Bevan, revealed other actors who were considered for the role.
However, due to Covid restrictions, Bowen Yang, Dan Levy, and Ben Platt couldn't participate in the London-based filming.
Simu Liu, who eventually landed a Ken role, was very eager for the part. Meanwhile, Jonathan Groff had to decline the role of Ken's friend, Allan, which went to Michael Cera.

Director Greta Gerwig took a personal approach in selecting the actors, wanting to get to know them as individuals before providing the script.
Ultimately, Margot Robbie secured the main role of Barbie, and the film features a diverse cast portraying various Barbies, including Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, and Dua Lipa.
