Nintendo and Sony Pictures are teaming up to create a live-action movie based on the popular video game series, The Legend of Zelda. The movie will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, the game’s creator, and Avi Arad, known for his work on the Spider-Man movies. The director of The Maze Runner, Wes Ball, will be in charge of the film.
We don’t know yet who will star in the movie or what the story will be about.
Mr. Miyamoto mentioned on Nintendo’s Japanese account that he and Arad have been working on this project for a while. They’ve started working on the film, and Nintendo is heavily involved in the production. It will take some time to finish, but they hope fans will look forward to it.
The Legend of Zelda is one of Nintendo’s most successful franchises, second only to Super Mario. It has sold about 150 million copies since it first came out in 1986. The latest game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, sold an impressive 10 million copies in just three days when it was released last May, making it the fastest-selling Zelda game ever.
Cast of The Legend of Zelda Live-Action Movie
Rumors are Jacob Tremblay, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Justice Smith are going to join the star cast of The Legend of Zelda movie but nothing has been confirmed by the officials.

Previous Nintendo Movies Impressed at the Box Office
This movie is part of a trend of successful video game adaptations in recent years. In the past, movies based on games often didn’t do well. However, Nintendo’s animated Super Mario Bros Movie, released earlier this year, became one of the highest-grossing animated films ever ( $1 billion at the box office). Other game-based movies like Sonic the Hedgehog and Detective Pikachu have also been big hits.
Producer Avi Avrad’s Past Work
Avi Arad, the producer of this Zelda movie, has a strong track record with movies, especially with Spider-Man films. He’s also had success with video game adaptations, like the 2022 Uncharted film, which made $400 million in theaters.
