Birthday Special: Bobby Deol Talked About His Debut Film, ‘Barsaat’: “I was 22 when I started shooting for it…”

Bobby Deol, now 55, has become a big name in Indian cinema, but his journey wasn’t easy, especially with his debut film “Barsaat.” The movie faced many delays and took almost four years to hit the screens.

Bobby Deol’s Journey: From Delayed Debut to Rising Star

Originally, Shekhar Kapur was supposed to direct “Barsaat,” but he left the project after shooting for 27 days because he got an offer to direct “Bandit Queen” in Hollywood. Bobby revealed this during the Jagran Film Festival. His father, Dharmendra, didn’t want to wait for Shekhar and decided to find another director. Luckily, Rajkumar Santoshi stepped in.

Bobby started shooting for “Barsaat” when he was just 22, but the delays meant it wasn’t released until he was 26. He had to wait for about a year after Shekhar left, and even then, it took two more years to finish the film. The script kept changing, which was frustrating for Bobby. To fit into the different character requirements, he had to take up activities like running, playing drums, and bike riding.
