Crazxy Movie Review: Sohum Shah’s Thriller Lacks Impact
Cast: Sohum Shah, Unnati Sarana
Director: Girish Kohli
Rating: ★★.5
Girish Kohli’s thriller Crazxy attempts to keep audiences on the edge of their seats but falls short with its predictable storyline and an underwhelming climax. While it has moments of tension, especially one standout sequence, the film fails to maintain consistent engagement.
Plot Overview
Dr. Abhimanyu (Sohum Shah) is a man burdened by past decisions. He divorced his wife after their daughter, Vedica, was born with Down Syndrome, seeing it as a blemish on his reputation. As he travels to settle a medical negligence case with a ₹5 crore payout, he receives a chilling call—his daughter has been kidnapped. Initially dismissing it as a prank, he soon realizes the threat is real. The ransom demanded matches the exact amount he’s carrying, raising the question: Is this a mere coincidence or an inside job? The film follows his desperate attempts to navigate the situation while uncovering hidden truths.
A Slow Start with Few Thrills
Crazxy kicks off with a generic race-against-time setup, failing to bring anything fresh to the table. The background score is loud and jarring, possibly intended to amplify tension but often just grates on the nerves. Before the interval, the film struggles to evoke any strong emotions—no real thrill, no fear, just a sense of detachment.
Post-interval, the pace improves slightly, with one particularly gripping sequence where Abhimanyu must change a car tire, perform a virtual surgery, and negotiate with the kidnapper—all at once. However, aside from this, the excitement is minimal. The climax suddenly shifts from a thriller to emotional drama, but the transition feels forced rather than impactful. While the big reveal is unexpected, it lacks the punch needed to leave a lasting impression.

Technical Aspects and Performances
Visually, the film stands out. Cinematographers Sunil Borkar and Kuldeep Mamania create a claustrophobic atmosphere, as most of the story unfolds inside Abhimanyu’s car, adding to the tension. The supporting cast only appears through voiceovers, enhancing the protagonist’s isolation and making the experience feel increasingly chaotic.
The soundtrack consists mostly of remixes of classic songs, with Abhimanyu from Inquilaab, sung by Kishore Kumar, being the only track that truly complements the narrative.
Final Verdict
While Crazxy has a few gripping moments and strong visuals, it struggles to deliver a compelling thriller experience. The predictable plot, weak emotional impact, and unremarkable climax leave much to be desired. It’s a watchable film but not one that will stay with audiences for long.
