Exciting news has emerged about Salaar 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the hit Tollywood movie Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. The 2023 film was a massive success, raking in over $100 million and breaking global box office records. Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire stars Prabhas in the lead role as Salaar, set in the dystopian city-state of Khansaar. The film follows Salaar, also known as Deva, as he partners with his friend Varadha (Prithviraj Sukumaran) to secure Varadha’s throne against dark forces.

Filming Has Begun
As of August 10, 2024, it was confirmed that Prabhas had started shooting for Salaar 2 (via IndiaToday). Prashanth Neel will continue as the director, and much of the original set from the first film is being reused.

Expected Summer 2025 Release
Producer Vijay Kiragandur has hinted that Salaar 2 is slated for release in the summer of 2025. While no official date has been announced, fans can expect the film around that time.

Returning Actors
Many of the main cast members from Salaar: Part 1 will be reprising their roles in the sequel. Prabhas will return as Devaratha “Deva” Raisaar, also known as Salaar. Prithviraj Sukumaran will be back as Vardha Raja “Vardha” Mannar, and Shruti Hassan will return as Aadhya. The July 2024 announcements (via TimesOfIndia) also confirmed the return of Bobby Simha as Bhaarava, Ramachandra Raju as Rudra Raja Mannar, Devaraj as Om, and Shafi as Thiru.

Salaar 2 Storyline
A Bigger and More Epic Tale
Producer Vijay Kiragandur has shared some exciting details about the storyline of Salaar 2. He revealed that Salaar 1 was merely a teaser for what’s to come, saying:
“Salaar 1 is just a glimpse of part two. You can treat it as a trailer, and part two will be much bigger in terms of action and scale. Prashanth introduced all the characters in the first part, and now Salaar 2 will be like Game of Thrones, with more drama, politics, and action. The cliffhanger you saw in the first film – there will be even more in the sequels.”
The sequel will see the stakes raised significantly. At the end of Salaar: Part 1, we see Rudra forming an alliance with his uncle Om to take over the throne, positioning them as the primary antagonists in Salaar 2. Deva’s true identity as the ruler of Khansaar is revealed, and Vardha pledges his loyalty to him, deepening their friendship. The second part will continue to explore the intense power struggle for the Khansaar throne, with all the characters’ true identities and motivations now out in the open.
Fans can look forward to a much larger and more action-packed continuation of the story when Salaar 2 hits theaters.
