The upcoming TIFF 2023 faces challenges as Hollywood grapples with simultaneous strikes by the Screen Actors Guild and the Writers Guild, potentially leading to lower attendance. Iconic moments like Lady Gaga’s boat entrance and Elle Fanning’s new version of Dior’s New Look may be missed this year. Luca Guadagnino’s “Challengers” also stands in solidarity with the strikes, opting to pull out of the Venice Film Festival and reschedule for next April. Despite the hurdles, the Toronto International Film Festival pushes forward, announcing its impressive lineup of 60 films on July 24.
