In a thrilling announcement at the annual FF XIV Fanfest celebration, Square Enix revealed the eagerly awaited 7.0 expansion of Final Fantasy XIV, titled “Dawntrail.” The game’s director, Naoki Yoshida made the grand reveal, showcasing a new trailer that left fans in awe. The expansion is set to launch during the summer of 2024, bringing a fresh chapter to the long-running MMO.
“Dawntrail” holds special significance as it ventures into unexplored realms after the conclusion of the previous expansion, “Endwalker,” which wrapped up the epic storyline that began with 2013’s “A Realm Reborn.” This time, players will embark on a journey to the New World, officially known as Tural, a mysterious land located west of Eorzea.
Accompanied by familiar faces such as Y’shtola, G’raha Tia, and Thancred of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, the Warrior of Light will lead the charge, joined by Meteor Survivor, who sports an intriguing Pirates of the Caribbean-inspired appearance.
Described by Yoshida as “the perfect summer vacation,” “Dawntrail” will task players with determining the new leader of Tural, a region flourishing with a diverse population coexisting harmoniously with nature, all within a captivating new hub city.
Excitingly, the expansion will introduce two new classes, a ranged DPS, and a magic DPS, leaving players curious about the unique gameplay they’ll offer. Yoshida playfully hinted at their nature by pointing to his attire, a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shirt.
The level cap will be raised to 100, with every job receiving fresh skills to master. Players can also look forward to engaging in new dungeons, diverse lifestyle content, and discovering fresh gear, recipes, and formidable enemies.
In addition to the thrilling expansion, fans can anticipate long-awaited new model and gear overhauls, with a significant lighting update to eliminate the game’s characteristic muddy appearance. These improvements will apply to 7.0 content and then extend to 2.0 characters, eventually encompassing older expansions.
