The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) senior national selection committee has finalized India’s squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup in 2023. This decision comes after speculations due to the postponement of the India-Pakistan Asia Cup game in Pallekele and concerns about KL Rahul’s fitness. Led by Ajit Agarkar, the selection committee unveiled the 15-member squad late on Saturday.
Initially, there were doubts about KL Rahul’s availability for the World Cup. The National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru was tasked with providing a health update on him. Fortunately, Rahul has made a full recovery and is ready for selection, prompting the selectors to make their final choices.
Notably, Sanju Samson did not make it to the squad, along with Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna. In their place, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav have secured spots in the team.
Ajit Agarkar personally traveled to Sri Lanka to meet with the team’s captain, Rohit Sharma, and coach, Rahul Dravid, to make these crucial decisions.
