Renowned CID actor, Dinesh Phadnis, best known for his portrayal of Fredericks in the iconic television series, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 57. His demise, attributed to multiple organ failure, was confirmed by fellow CID actor Dayanand Shetty, who played the character Daya on the show.
Dinesh Phadnis had been on ventilator support since Sunday, grappling with severe liver damage. The news of his passing was shared by Dayanand Shetty in a statement to indianexpress.com. Shetty clarified that Dinesh breathed his last at 12.08 am at Mumbai’s Tunga Hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment.
According to Shetty, the actor faced numerous complications, ultimately leading to his removal from the ventilator the previous night. The funeral arrangements are scheduled to take place in Mumbai at 10.30 am.
